One of the things we've LOVED about having a rental house so close to our build is walking to the house *almost* every day. We've walked in various combinations of our family... and sometimes with neighbors. It's been a great time to talk to the kids or Jason about what's going on in their lives. The walk to our new neighborhood isn't far, but it's a bit complicated. There's a big, overgrown field that I'm certain is full of snakes. The kids don't seem scared of it, but I refuse to walk through there. Hopefully they're loud enough to scare any snakes away from their path. The alternate route is right on a busy street. Like really busy, with nothing but a shoulder to walk on. It's not the safest route, likely, but I figure it's safer than the heart attack I'd have if I encountered a snake in the field. The bigs (especially Lucy) would rather handle a snake than be seen walking on the busy street by anyone at school. She. Would. Die. (her words)
So, I risk my life for a few hundred feet, until we get to the "circle." Once we are there, it's pretty safe. There's not much traffic once you reach the bottom of the hill, where another neighborhood has an entrance. From then on, it's just resident traffic. I anticipate many family walks and bike rides around that circle.
The subdivision will, eventually, have 5 houses. I'm not sure how many are in the neighborhood, as a whole. They have a GroupMe app and keep each other updated on new happenings, any safety or medical needs and they get together occasionally socially. I'm thankful to be a part of a community! One other lot has sold out of the 5. I'm assuming Covid has slowed down land sales and new builds, but I'm hoping things will even out and he will be able to get those going soon. We have really enjoyed walking through the other house, too! Our new neighbors are super sweet. They're a young couple with 2 small children, and we are very excited to get to know them better in years to come. Their house is a little bit ahead of ours, so it's fun to see what they're doing and we get excited to see what's next for ours!
